We are excited to share an important update with our Members. University Community Care Plan has changed its name to Community First Mercado Plan.
While our name has changed, your health coverage, benefits, and access to care will remain the same. This is simply a name change and does not affect the quality of care or service you receive from us.
What This Means for You
As a current Member, you can continue to:
- Use your current Member ID card
- See your current in-network doctors and providers
- Access the same benefits and covered services
- Receive the same trusted service and support from our team
- Continue to refer to your plan documents for information about how your plan works and what it covers
There is no action required on your part, and there will be no interruption to your coverage.
New Member ID Cards Coming Soon
Current Members will receive a new Member ID card in the mail in December 2026 with the Community First Mercado Plan name. Until your new card arrives, please continue using your current Member ID card.
Same Coverage. Same Care. New Name.
Our new name reflects who we are and the community we proudly serve, while our mission remains unchanged: providing quality, affordable health coverage and supporting our Members’ health and well-being. The word “Mercado” translates to “Marketplace.” The new name celebrates our culture, our South Texas roots, and our commitment to being the only local, non-profit health plan in Bexar County.
