Spring break is almost here! San Antonio comes alive in the spring with markets, festivals, interactive art, camps, and more fun for the whole family (including dogs)! We’ve rounded up the best local events for family fun. Most are free with food, drink, and other goodies available for purchase. Here is our list of local spring break fun!

San Antonio Public Libraries are packed with fun, free activities to entertain the kiddos and keep the whole family busy over spring break! With a variety of creative community events for all ages, you can enjoy story time, crafts, educational workshops, and more. It’s a great way to learn, create, and explore together. FREE Splash Pad Fun
When: Open daily
Where: Across the San Antonio area
Cost: FREE

Splash pads are a great alternative to a pool, river, or lake, and still a great way to cool off and have a little fun. San Antonio and Bexar County have a lot of splash pads for the little ones to frolic in and many are opening during spring break for the spring/summer season. Don’t forget the sunscreen! Hours vary, so always check the website or call first.

Japanese Tea Garden
When: Open Daily, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Find your Zen at the peaceful Japanese Tea Garden. Bring the whole family to explore scenic, wheelchair-accessible paths with stunning views, open and free to the public daily from dawn to dusk. The Jingu House Café, named after the Japanese-American family that once lived there, sells Japanese tea, bubble tea, and Asian-inspired dishes.

Converse Parks & Recreation – Field and Art Day

Bring the whole family out for Field & Art Day, a free morning of games, inflatables, crafts, and community fun hosted by the City of Converse Parks & Recreation Department! Kids can enjoy arts and crafts, a giant inflatable obstacle course, a soccer dart board, Story Time with the Converse Library, and more!

Antique Fire Truck Show

What’s cooler than a fire truck? An old-timey fire truck! Don’t miss the free Downtown Antique Fire Truck Show on March 7, where you can see classic fire engines up close while spending time out in your community. It’s an excellent outing for all ages, perfect for history or fire engine fans, future firefighters, and families alike.

Learn to Play Pokémon at Dragon’s Lair Alamo Ranch

Market Square Spring Fest

Head to The Historic Market Square for their vibrant Spring Break Fest! Enjoy 4 days, 60 bands, and 3 stages of live music and entertainment that will make the whole family want to dance. Several food booths will be selling tasty treats, and local artists and vendors will be showcasing their talent with unique items for sale.

Slab Outdoor Family Film at Mission Marquee Plaza

Mission Marquee Plaza will be showing free movies this spring, brought to you by the City of San Antonio World Heritage Office! Bring your blankets, lawn chairs, snacks, and picnics for a family-friendly film experience. Movies start approximately at sunset, so arrive early to find a good spot!

Tower of the Americas Movie in the Park

19th Annual Fest of Tails at McAllister Park

Calling all dog lovers! Bring the whole family, including friendly, leashed pups, to this annual dog-friendly, family event! The Fest of Tails features a free kite festival, dog fair, pooch parade, canine costume contest, live music, and pet adoptions!

St. Patrick’s River Parades & Celebration

Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in San Antonio with the St. Patrick’s River Parade! Since 1969, festive floats with live Irish music and bagpipers have floated down the San Antonio River. Enjoy free family activities, live entertainment, and vendors at La Villita Historic Village.

KLRN’s Be My Neighbor Day

Fresh Start invites you and your family to a free event at Rosedale Park! At KLRN’s Be My Neighbor Day, children and families will come together for family-friendly activities that celebrate kindness, community, and the importance of helping others. Play games, meet PBS KIDS characters, including Daniel Tiger, and attend a community resource fair!

Museums For All

The museums listed below are part of the Museums for All program. This means they offer free or discounted admission if you receive food assistance (SNAP). Present your EBT card and a photo ID for entry. Exclusions may apply to special exhibits. Visit each museum’s website below for more detailed information.

Free Tuesday and Sunday at the San Antonio Museum of Art
When: Tuesdays, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.; and second Sundays, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Cost: FREE for Bexar County Residents

Bexar County residents can visit the San Antonio Museum of Art for free on Tuesdays and second Sundays! Just bring proof of residency and enjoy the museum’s incredible galleries. Please note that some special exhibits may require an extra charge.

Spring Break Roundup at the Briscoe
When: Monday, March 9 – 13, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Cost: FREE for Children 12 & Under, FREE for all on March 11, FREE for Museum Members

Spring into the West at the Briscoe Western Art Museum! Be creative with hands-on arts and crafts and celebrate the heritage and culture of the American West. Each day offers new topics, including thrilling stories of native wildlife, Native American heritage, cowboys, vaqueros, and Tejano culture. Spring Break Roundup is included with museum admission for ages 13 & up, with no cost for craft supplies and no reservations required. Free Tuesday at The Witte Museum
When: Tuesdays, 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Cost: FREE for Bexar County Residents, reservation required

Bexar County residents can explore the Witte Museum for free every Tuesday from 3 to 6 p.m.! Discover fascinating exhibits and galleries with friends and family. Don’t forget to reserve your tickets online in advance, as availability is limited. Don’t forget to bring proof of residency, like a driver’s license or utility bill with your Bexar County address on it.

Free Thursdays and First Sundays at the McNay
When: Every Thursday, 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and every 1st Sunday of the month, 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Where: 6000 N. New Braunfels Ave., San Antonio, TX 78209
Cost: FREE

Enjoy free general admission to the McNay on Thursdays! Military members, veterans, and students from local colleges and universities receive free entry every day with proper ID. Don’t miss the chance to explore incredible art and culture for free! Special exhibits cost extra.

San Antonio Botanical Garden
When: Daily, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Cost: FREE for children age 3 & under

Discover the beauty of the San Antonio Botanical Garden, featuring 38 acres of lush landscapes, themed gardens, and scenic walking trails. Explore the Texas Native Trail, wander through the tropical conservatory, or enjoy seasonal exhibits. The garden also offers educational programs, family activities, and a café for a relaxing bite. Mission Marquee Plaza – Yoga or Zumba and Farmers Artisan Market
When: 1st and 3rd Saturdays in March, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Spend your morning at the Mission Marquee Plaza Farmers & Artisans Market! Shop fresh, locally sourced foods and browse handmade goods from local vendors. Start the day with a free yoga or Zumba class, then explore seasonal tree adoptions hosted by the City of San Antonio Parks & Recreation Department.

Pearl Farmer’s Market
When: Saturdays in March, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Sundays in March, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Where: The Pearl, 303 Pearl Parkway
Cost: FREE to attend, food and goods for purchase

Saturdays bring out the local farmers and ranchers to the Pearl. Find fresh, local produce and meat from South Texas. On Sunday, browse local artisans‘ goods, including pottery, wood crafts, and unique home goods!

Garden Ridge Market Days
When: Saturday, March 14, 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Check out 200+ local craft, food, farm, and business vendors selling goods while the kids participate in free activities, including a bouncy house, face painting, crafts, a scavenger hunt, games, and chalk art! Food and drinks are available for purchase from local food trucks and vendors.

Spring Fest Saturday Market
When: Saturday, March 14, 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Kick off the season at the Spring Fest Saturday Market! This family-friendly event features shopping from local small businesses, delicious food, and outdoor fun.

Camps

San Antonio Spring Break Camps
When: Monday, March 9 to Friday, March 13; 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Where: Various locations
Cost: $3.00 per child per day for kids age 6-14

Choose from a variety of camps, including general day camps, swim camps, and more. Camps are available for kids ages 6-14 at multiple locations across San Antonio. Spots are limited, so don’t wait! Click for more details.

Spring Break FUN Camp
When: Monday, March 9 and Tuesday, March 10; 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This FREE Spring Break Fun Camp is bursting with nonstop games, creative crafts, awesome activities, and tons of laughs. Kids can make new friends, try something new every hour, and enjoy a full day of unforgettable fun.
